We explained some basic garden herbs, when and where to plant them, and how to use them in the kitchen. We also put together starter herb gardens in containers.

|Earth Mother Market in Ft. Thomas’s historic Midway District is operated by seven women farmers whose products are naturally grown and certified “organic” by the state. We were the market’s guest experts for the day and offered advice on growing and using herbs. We also sold fresh herbs and cookbooks.|

|Participants “toured” Rebecca’s gardens, shared her herbs, and had a delightful tasting of several different wines from wineries located nearby in the tri-state area. Discussion focused on the details of our upcoming presentation at the Boone County Library and on planning a slate of officers for the upcoming NKHS election.|

Members of the NKHS were the sole presenters for this workshop sponsored by the library and open to the general public.

Members brought and shared a variety of dishes made with the different herbs we have featured during the past year of monthly programs.

Joan Klahr presented a cornucopia of craft ideas that use natural materials and would make great Christmas gifts. She demonstrated a variety of ideas and resources and let each participate complete and take home at least one finished project.

|Instead of holding a regular monthly meeting members gathered to clean and decorate the Dinsmore Homestead log cabin for the annual “Christmas in the Country” event. The decorations were organic materials typical of what would have been used in log cabins during the 1790s.|
